Saving heat

You know when everybody is on there fast past often we decide when it is time to cook what we will eat that day and that means often we start cooking frozen foods.

It would be some much better for the envirment and you wallet if you would thaw our foods. And specially if you would put it like the night before in your fridge that way even the fridge doesn’t have to work so hard to keep cool.

And we all thought that caring for our world is difficult, it’s not it just takes a lot of small steps!

What a waste!

Let me tell you a little story.

A friend in Calgary (Canada) ordered a new Laptop from the Apple Store online. Nothing wrong there you would say but this is just the start.

First of all there was more then just a Mac, this order also got some software and a printer and an Ipod. And that is where it really starts.

Ooooh a shipment from Apple arrived guess what it is……..

Yep the software and the printer something I can’t really use without the new computer can I?

Second package arrives a day later and this time it is the Ipod and the extended warrenty.

And then the 3 box arrived with the laptop but let me tell you how this little box traveled before it arrived in Calgary.

It came from Shanghai (China) from there it went to Anchorage, Alaska (USA) then it flew to Louisville, Kentucky (USA) then on to Buffalo, New York (USA) and then to Mount Hope, Ontario (Canada) and then Finally to Calgary, Alberta(Canada) who this laptop did some traveling before it can be used.

First of all you would expect that UPS could send packages a little bit more direct and secondly did this order from the Apple Store really have to be split up in 3 orders?

We could have saved a lot of resources if we would plan a bit better!

Wasting power

If in the evening go for a walk and see the downtown area of the city where I live why do i always have to see all those skyscrapers with all the lights on? You can’t make me believe that there are still people working.

Why can’t we just turn of the light when we leave the offices as last person? And why do so many of us leave the computer on?

You see it is easy to be good for the enviroment but you just need to DO IT!

Saving Fuel

OK fuel prices are going down again but we don’t know for how long. But did you know that there are easy ways of saving fuel that just mean chaning your driving habbits a little bit. Let me give you some examples.

When you drive away you don’t have to go full speed ahead if you just let you car start slowly you will notice that it takes less of you car and so less of the fuel in it.

Then of course there is breaking. If you look further ahead then you can see what will happen soon and instead of breaking at the last moment you can start letting you car roll by letting the gass paddle go.

And then there is one i can’t really tell you but i do it any ways. If you don’t really have to let you car roll a bit instead of bringing it to a full stop. I try not to stop at a stop sign but just let it slowly roll that way driving away is easier on the car again.

Did you know that chargers like the one you use for you cell phone, home phone, laptop, gameconsole, cordless vacume and much much more still use electricty even if you appliance is of or not even connected?

If we would all disconnected our cell phone charger when the phone is done charging we would save so much electricity that thousands and thousands of people could have electricty.

By just simply diconnecting you charger when you don’t use it you can save you electricbill and save the enviroment because now we don’t have to produce so much more electric.

Keep it in mind next time you charge something!
