LED light bulbs

Most of by now are using some of those energy saving light bulbs OK they save a lot of power and last longer to but still they are not ideal with there flickering and then when they break they polute the enviroment a bit more because of there mercury content.

But now there are LED light bulbs they will last you a lot longer then the normal power saver bulb. They can burn for 11 years and use even less power then the power saver light bulbs and that while they give you a nicer light.

They state an average LED light bulb can save you around 430 dollars in it’s life and that could make it worth to buy a couple of them.

Check out this range of LED light bulbs and see how easy it is to saveĀ  the planet.

I was walking around one day an ran in to this car.

It looks like it will drive much any more but what a way to recycle it. The car is just parked on the side of the road and is fill with plants. Even the inside serves as a greenhouse for tomatoes.

So if you are in need of a vegetable garden and don’t have that space have a look at an old pickup truck and just fill it up with dirt and you are ready to go.

I know we all get the feeling: yeah…global warming, heating of the planet, and all those BIG things hanging over our heads…what can I do about that?

But you know that with small baby steps we can all make a difference, and with some things maybe you didn’t even know that it could help save the planet. And you know what, often it does not just save the planet but it also saves you money, and these days that is nice too.

So starting tomorrow I will do my best to post a new tip everyday. The tips will be small things, and you will not want to do all of them, but believe me it just takes small changes to change the BIG world.

And if you have tips or ideas about this or other topics for this blog, then just leave a comment on this post and I will see what I can use to help us all.

We all here the news about global warming and how bad the planet is doing. People like Al Gore and David Suzuki mean well but I take all those messages with a grain of salt. Of course the planet needs help but what does all those bad news items help with that?

It is so simple if we all do something and I mean all of us then there was not even a problem. But us people are not very smart we like to waste lots of money and make the planet a bit worse by doing so.
For example if we would walk more we would save more gases and so more money.
If we would not go get coffee every morning but make it our selves at home we would save money and we save the garbage we create.
Do you get the picture here? it is not about the BIG things happening with our planet it is about what YOU and ME can do for ourselves to make this place a better place to live and in the long run we would save each other a lot of money to.

Stop over consumption and you will make the world and our wallets a lot better of.

Garbage around

Why do people just keep trowing their trash on the road?

Yesterday I was walking around town and there it happened some one just walking around and there went the garbage just being thrown on the ground. Is it so difficult to keep it with you to you pass a bin?

The place would be such a cleaner place if we all would just put our trash in a bin and then less animals would get sick or trapped in the stuff we trow around.

And if we would recycle the garbage on the street then it would be even better. How often do I see plastic bottles or pop cans in a park? YES to often just a waste of great recources.

Did you know that lots and lots of the bottled water is just coming from the tap like you have at home?

Yes the big brands just get the water from the tap to and filter it like you could do at home to by getting a water filter like Brita and that way you water will be a lot cheaper and you don’t get all those nasty plastic bottles that are not healthy for you either.

Recycle Papercups

We all go to the fastfood places once in a while or get a coffee on the go.

But what happends to all those paper cups that end up living in your car?

I thought about this and got a bit disapointing everytime I disposed them in a garbage bin.

So now I recycle them. They seem like carboard to me so what I do is I drop them in the carboard recycling bins at the Recycle centre.

And if you worry about bugs enjoying them to much then I have a little tip for you.

Just put a little bit of water just 1 cm or so and then put the plastic top on and turn it around and the cup is kinda cleaned and will not attract the little bugs.

So now I am building a stack of papercups at home ready for my next recycle run!

Porch light

Do like many have the light at you porch or front door on all night?

If so then I hope that you at least have an energy saving light bulb in there and of course not only to save you electricity but mainly to make a saving in the electricity so that we spend less resources.

You know it could be an option to get a outside lamp that has a build in sensor that makes it go on when someone approaches the lamp this way it only gets on when it needs to.

As you can see saving electricity is easy and can help our planet to become a little bit better!

I wonder about something.

We all know that our water that comes from the tap is cleaned before it go’s true all those pipes to my sink.

But how save are all those chemicals they use to clean the water? And how save are all those things they put in our water like Floride because the goverment thinks we need it?

I personally use a water filter because for me the taste of tap water is just bad almost as bad as drinking a bottle of cleaning sollution. I guess doing the filtering makes it a little bit better but even there I wonder about.

For instance Britta says that it doesn’t filter out Floride out of our water but what does it fileter? does it filter out the traces of medication that is found in our drinking water?

And what happends when you Britta filter gets old? does it start to put the bad stuff collected in the filter back in to your water?

I guess there are a lot of question to wonder about for now I will keep using my Britta water filter but I am not convinced that it makes our water that much better!

My kitchen tap was dripping and so I called my landlord to get it fixed.

Nothing serious you would think just a case of changing a rubber piece and we are good to go again. That would be what I would do if it was my place but No the repair man just replaced the whole kitchen tab. OK of course I am happy that my problem is fixed BUT the old tap was still OK it just dript a bit.

Why can’t we just be a little bit more recycling things and maybe upgrade other parts that can use it better then this perfectly good tap?
