Cellphones Bad?

Let me start with a question:

If a cellphone is able to make popcorn, is that good or bad?

Now watch this movie:

I guess what happens to the corn is basically what happens to your brain, but you only use one cellphone at a time, I hope.

But this makes you wonder how much harm the energy from wireless signals could do.

Everybody has heard the stories about how cellphones could cause brain damage, but supposedly there is no proof of it. Is the proof being hidden from us? Decades ago, the dangers of smoking were hushed up by the big tobacco companies.

I would say, use your cellphone and other wireless devices judiciously.

The world would be a better place if we didn’t need so much electricity. We’re all used to having electrical power whenever we want at our fingertips.

Take me, for instance. I’ve used an electric shaver for most of my life, which has no doubt wasted a lot of power.

But today I found a razor that you can charge by winding. A one-minute wind would generate enough power for a shave. That sounds pretty neat to me. Not only do you get a shave - you also get a bit of exercise working to power up your razor.

And this razor is not just a wind-up one. You can also plug it into a power socket or a 12-volt car socket, but who wants to do that when winding is much more fun? It’s also the perfect razor when you go camping in places with no electrical hook-up.

Go have a look at the Freedom Dynamo Electric Shaver.

Kill-A-Watt

We are all trying to use less and less of the Earth’s resources, but it can be hard when you do not know how much power you really use for a electrical device. For this reason, there are Kill-A-Watt devices that you can plug in between the power socket and the device power cord, and they will tell you how many dollars you are spending on electricity.

This version - the Kill-A-Watt EZ tell - can even forecast your device’s power usage over a week, a month, or a year, so that you know which are the big electricity gulpers in your home.

Check out the details of the Kill-A-Watt EZ or the simpler version, the Kill-A-Watt, and see how easy it is to find out how much power you waste.

Photo’s

We all like to show of our things like kids, holidays and so on and what is the best way of doing this? Of course with a picture. But do you know how bad real photo’s are on the environment! All those chemicals needed to make the photo paper and to get your photo’s printed.

Even if you print your photo’s at home with you own printer you still need a lot of ink’s and paper that are all not very good for our planet specially because those photo’s don’t all stay so interesting and end up somewhere in a box or even worse end up in the garbage.

But there are solutions that are better for the planet. You can have your photo’s digital and you can show them any where where there is a computer.

And there are other ways like putting photo’s on your iPod or a digital photo frame.

Today I found this little photo frame

It is only 3.5″ big but it is also so cheap (less then 30 dollars) to make it interesting to take with you instead of the old fashion little photo album in your purse to show you photo’s to your friends.
by doing so you save a little bit of our planet. This picture frame even has a rechargeable battery so that you can recharge it all the time.

Interested in this little gadget that would be the perfect holiday present then have a look at ThinkGeek where I found this little frame.

They state an average LED light bulb can save you around 430 dollars in it’s life and that could make it worth to buy a couple of them.

Did you know that chargers like the one you use for you cell phone, home phone, laptop, gameconsole, cordless vacume and much much more still use electricty even if you appliance is of or not even connected?

If we would all disconnected our cell phone charger when the phone is done charging we would save so much electricity that thousands and thousands of people could have electricty.

By just simply diconnecting you charger when you don’t use it you can save you electricbill and save the enviroment because now we don’t have to produce so much more electric.

Automatic Doors

Most of us these days when we get to a store we choose the automaticly opening doors to get in don’t we?

You wonder what would happen if we all would stop doing that and just use the doors that you need to give a little push or pull. I think we can save a fair amount of electricity and wear and tear and that way save our enviroment.

Don’t you think that small things like this can make a difference in the long run?

Drying

Everything seem has to go quick these days but is that always necessary?

For instance we have a dryer next to our washing machine but is that really such a useful machine?

first of all it shrinks my clothes, second the clothes don’t last as long any more either.

And then if you think of it do our clothes really need to be dry right after i wash them? I believe not i can put some different clothes on today.

Did you ever think of getting a drying rack? I did and I noticed it to. First of all my clothes don’t shrink as much any more and look better but besides that I really notice it on my electric bill to.

I would say think about a drying rack, even if you live in an apartment a drying rack can help you out.

The offer them in all kind of sizes for one that can stand in your bathtub to big enough for a big families laundry, and they are not as expensive as you think.
