Kill-A-Watt

We are all trying to use less and less of the Earth’s resources, but it can be hard when you do not know how much power you really use for a electrical device. For this reason, there are Kill-A-Watt devices that you can plug in between the power socket and the device power cord, and they will tell you how many dollars you are spending on electricity.

This version - the Kill-A-Watt EZ tell - can even forecast your device’s power usage over a week, a month, or a year, so that you know which are the big electricity gulpers in your home.

Check out the details of the Kill-A-Watt EZ or the simpler version, the Kill-A-Watt, and see how easy it is to find out how much power you waste.

The big airlines of this world did not really keep up with time. They still use radar systems to plot there course and that while even the kids on the playground have GPS in their Cell Phones.

What would happen if airlines would change to to a GPS based system?

An Associated Press analysis of federal and industry data found that if the new system were already in place, airlines could have saved more than $5 billion in fuel this year alone. (only based on US airlines).

Oh man that means we could have saved 5 billion dollars worth of fuel and what would that have done to our planet. 5 Billion dollars could save you a lot of green house gasses. And it could be even enough to maybe make your fuel bill a couple of cents lower every time you go to the pump.

Why or why are airlines stupid enough to remove the Video entertainment system from their planes to save fuel while a simple GPS solution would have saved them a bundle.

Airlines could save 10 Billion dollar a year with GPS

LED light bulbs

Most of by now are using some of those energy saving light bulbs OK they save a lot of power and last longer to but still they are not ideal with there flickering and then when they break they polute the enviroment a bit more because of there mercury content.

But now there are LED light bulbs they will last you a lot longer then the normal power saver bulb. They can burn for 11 years and use even less power then the power saver light bulbs and that while they give you a nicer light.

They state an average LED light bulb can save you around 430 dollars in it’s life and that could make it worth to buy a couple of them.

Check out this range of LED light bulbs and see how easy it is to save  the planet.

Saving Fuel

OK fuel prices are going down again but we don’t know for how long. But did you know that there are easy ways of saving fuel that just mean chaning your driving habbits a little bit. Let me give you some examples.

When you drive away you don’t have to go full speed ahead if you just let you car start slowly you will notice that it takes less of you car and so less of the fuel in it.

Then of course there is breaking. If you look further ahead then you can see what will happen soon and instead of breaking at the last moment you can start letting you car roll by letting the gass paddle go.

And then there is one i can’t really tell you but i do it any ways. If you don’t really have to let you car roll a bit instead of bringing it to a full stop. I try not to stop at a stop sign but just let it slowly roll that way driving away is easier on the car again.

Automatic Doors

Most of us these days when we get to a store we choose the automaticly opening doors to get in don’t we?

You wonder what would happen if we all would stop doing that and just use the doors that you need to give a little push or pull. I think we can save a fair amount of electricity and wear and tear and that way save our enviroment.

Don’t you think that small things like this can make a difference in the long run?

Boiling Eggs

If you like a boiled egg like I do then try this new way of boiling them it will save you some energy and by that your wallet and the environment.

It’s simple I use one of those plastic eggs that turn color when the eggs get boiled so put that with the eggs you want to boil in a little pot.

Then boil water in your electric kettle and of course boil just enough to cover your eggs because the extra water boiling will not be of any use. Then after the water boils put it in to the pot and heat the pot till the water boils (should be like around a minute max) and then turn the stove of and wait.  One thing that is important and i didn’t tell you yet but after you put the water in the pot put a lid on it so that the warm air also stays in the pot.

And now it is just waiting till you eggs are done. I don’t time because of the cool plastic predictor egg that i have but my eggs turned out perfect and they are easier to peal to.

So go try it and I would say enjoy your eggs!
